Some may laugh but these really surprised me and I use 'em all the time now. I saw a commercial on TV about the HD (high definition) vision sunglasses. They are actually readers (which I need) but they're great for riding, don't look rediculous and they even say "HD" on the side without costing like HD. Called the 800 number on the screen and bought a pair, for no charge they throw in an extra pair free plus a protective pouch. They come in any magnification you want eg; +1.0, 1.25, 1.50 etc... They come in black or brown. Can't remember exact cost but I believe less than $20 bucks.
Damn.... I need to call in the next 10 minutes to get the protective pouch...
I had Wiley X glasses for a couple of years, with interchangable lens. Those lens are a royal pain to change out. I finally bit the bullet and got some of the HD light sensitive lens glasses. I'm pretty happy with them. Lots easier to just have one set of glasses/lenses.
I wear the "2 for $15" kind you get at any rally but I've really been considering dropping the coin to get some transitions because I don't have any bags and its a PIA to carry a clear set with me.
i use the same glasses i wear when i get off my bike, some oakley gascans. and at night i got a cheap-o pair of transitions that i bought from the stealer. after a while my eyes got used to the wind, or they are just really dried out.
Check out (bikershades.com), they have some good transition riding glassed that are inexpensive. I have 2 pair, one for me and one for the old lady. They work well for the price.
Wiley X is the better higher end stuff. If money was no object thats what I would get.
I used to work in the optical industry and I can tell you transition lenses are ok if you have them exposed to the sunlight. If you wear a cap or hat or anything that blockes the suns uv rays from hitting the lenses, they won't change. Hope that help's
