Default handlebars ?

I just got my Iron 883. I'm short in both the arm and leg and a girl. I need to bring the bars in closer to me. What bars do you recommend ? Can I just put risers on to bring them in closer to me ? Any help appreciated. I already put a Reach seat on so I can flat foot it.

You could go with the stock bars from an 883L, and angle them back as needed. If you go risers, you might want to look for some that have some pull back.

I am currently making some bars and I used some PVC pipe and elbows to make a mock set. You could do the same thing and play with the height and angle.

I suggest you also consider wider bars like on the Nightster. The narrower bars on the Iron make it more difficult to control at parking lot speeds.

Don't ignore the possibility of 10" mini apes....Higher bars give you lots more leverage when tossing the bike around and also holding it up at stop lights.

I installed 10" T-bars on my Iron recently and absolutely love the height and extra width...check the pics out in my Myspace. They are in the 'Christmas for Black Bitch album'

Drag bars with a nice amount of pullback will greatly increase your comfort. My wife has these on her sporty and they rule. http://www.wild1inc.com/orderWO560.html you can sit completely straight up with the amount of pullback on them. I can get you a great price if interested too.

Looking to purchase new bars for my 08 1200L. Still have the stock bars on mine. On long rides my right hand will go to sleep and I use the throttle lock down the interstate at times to revive my hand. I like the mini apes with a good amount of pullback. Live in the coumtry so I have a lot of twisty's to neogotiate as well. Do I need to go to the local bike shop to be fitted for bars? What is yall's advise?

thanks

I too am a shorty. I have an '09 Iron. I bought 12" mini apes cuz I've grown attached to them. I heard it's a mess to install them myself due to the clutch cable and the risk of draining the primary. My boyfriend is more a mechanic than I... is this a do-it-yourself job or should I be taking this to the dealer. Bike has less than 500 miles on it (incase that matters.)

Thanks!

easy to do, yeah you have to change out the clutch cable and replace you primary fluid but its really easy...isn't it bad enough that the dealer gets you for parts?

do you really want him to charge you for a job a trained monkey could do?

Phat Performance, but don't buy them. The internal wiring holes are in the wrong places under the switch housings and the tubing under the right grip is squashed out of round in manufacturing......It took lots of rework and repaint to make them right.

Besides that, last time I looked they no longer stocked them.
