I too am a shorty. I have an '09 Iron. I bought 12" mini apes cuz I've grown attached to them. I heard it's a mess to install them myself due to the clutch cable and the risk of draining the primary. My boyfriend is more a mechanic than I... is this a do-it-yourself job or should I be taking this to the dealer. Bike has less than 500 miles on it (incase that matters.)
Thanks!
I just got done switching out all of that stuff a little bit ago, not the most mechanical person in the world, but if you have the tools and a little bit of time its not that bad to do at all. And if you have questions on how to do anything there are plenty of people that can give a little insight. I figured out how to do all mine watching youtube videos.
Im pretty short myself.. and when I got my bike it had drag bars.. although I loved the way they looked it was very uncomfortable for me to ride with them.. I happened to have a old set of stock bars from a 2000 superglide in my garage.. put them on and love them.. If you can get a set you could always paint them and give them a try..
Been workin' on this thing myself for a bit. Not too bad so far, but I haven't gotten to finish it up yet. I bought the parts online and got them for a steal, saving by doing the install myself (well, myself and the ol man).
