Question fuel pump squeal

The wife's bike is an '08 1200 Low. If the bike isn't started for a week or two, it makes a squealing noise when you first turn on the key. I think this is the fuel pump getting gas to the injectors for it to fire. After it starts once it never makes the noise again unless it sets for a while. Any thoughts?

It happens when you let it sit too long. Its being primed with fuel. Nothing to worry about.

Same thing happens with your car, if you listen closely. It's normal as long as the pump only runs for a 2-3 seconds and stops.

I have a nightster and it does that every time i turn the switch to run. It is high pitch and louder than normal but i have heard it like that on a ton of bikes so it is normal.

I have an 09 883L and my fuel pump makes the squealing noise if it sits for a while too.

Thanks for the help. It's good to know it seems to be a common problem and not any trouble. Thanks again!
