Default Vance and Hines Short Shots question

Hey all,

I'm looking to buy some vance and hines Short shots for my 04 sportster xl1200c, but I want to put them on myself. Other than the pipes, do I need to purchase anything extra or will vance and hines send everything with the pipes I need? Also, do I need to rejet the carb? Is there anything else I need to know before I put on the pipes?

Everything for the pipes comes with the pipes. No rejeting unless you change the air cleaner from the stock one.

You will probably want to get some new exhaust gaskets, getting out the old ones without messing them up is hard, their cheap.....

Spend the extra couple bucks at the dealer and get the SE gaskets. They are thicker and are easier to get to seal up. Should not have to rejet, but you won't know for sure until you get them on and ride it.

The one thing that I had to get with mine......not sure you will......but they were prefitted for bikes with 02 sensors, since I didn't have them I had to get the the plugs for the holes. Other than that, and the gaskets, you have everything that you need.

It is not a difficult job, good luck to you.

I believe the 02 sensors are for the '07 and up bikes that are fuel injected. He won't have to worry about those as his bike is an '04.
