Default popping fuses

I went for a long ride today with the intent of changing my oil after. I went to the harley shop and bought a filter, then walmart for oil. Anyway in the parking lot I tried to start the bike, a 2005 1200C. The engine turned over once then I had no power. I found that it was the 30A fuse connected to the positive battery cable. I went back inside and bought a new one and the bike started up fine. I got it home and changed the oil. I was going to start the bike to check for leaks when it popped the fuse again. I guess I have a short some where. What would cause this? Where do I need to start looking?

WOW, that's the Maxi fuse. Sounds like possibly a voltage regulator that is going bad. Good news about that, it's an easy install for a new voltage regulator. Bad news....they aren't cheap, and if you run it too long, it will also fry the stator which is a major PITA to replace.
