Default Sporty Engine, no papers...

Hay all.

I have the opertunity to pick up a 03 883 engine on the cheap, but without paperwork. Whats the deal? If I slap it in a rigid frame, do I need to show a reciept? Can I check the case number to see if its stolen? Or do they even get reported? I dont want to get f'd, Id love to build bike but I dont want to get stuck with "hot" parts. Thanks!

Sounds HOT! and not in a good way. If you are building a bike, the frame serial number will be used for the VIN, but you will have to show a bill of sale for the motor.
