The HF one does seem too good to be true. I plan to get one and pick up a used oven (can find one at any used appliance center cheap if there is problems with the range or giveaway on craigslist) and maybe even make a little money with it.

A friend of mine and I went in together and got a good kit and an oven. The gun is a 50k KV setup and we used an extra kitchen oven to bake with. Works GREAT if you prep right and take your time. Not something to just go do on a whim. You'll need access to a blaster of some kind as well.

I've done a ton of parts with it and I've always been pleased with the results. Don't go cheap, get what you pay for.

I got him to use his powdercoating gun also.

So I didn't even need to get any of the stuff.

Awesome.

I built a powder coating oven with a hot plate, that I got for less than $20, and some 8" round heating duct works from Home depot. I even went to a larger heating duct for larger parts (16" long x 9" wide x 22" height). I am able to get 350 degrees very easy in about 15 minutes. I got my idea from this video on you tube. enjoy.

The former part of this statement is true. The latter part is not. You can powder coat some plastics - even a toilet. While the attraction produced by a grounded piece of metal stock and the positive charged powder is very favorable, it is not essential. These guys do absolutely amazing stuff (VT Hokies is not their name, it's the school where they earned their engineering degrees)

I powdercoat quite a bit. You can coat just about anything that'll withstand 400 degrees for 20 to 30 min.
