Anyone know what is behind the name "Forty-Eight"?

I believe it was the year the first peanut tank was introduced.

Peanut tank introduced in 1948. That is why it has a small tank, I believe it is 2.1 gal. like the original one.

I know this is kind of off subject.. kind of.. but man they could have gotten them things in a better color scheme.. I like the way the 48's look but not the colors..

I can't imagine a 2 gallon tank with the fuel pump in there. What's left, a gallon and a half? Hope you live close to that bar.
