Are drag bars with no risers still comfortable for long rides?

I have been running drags on my bikes for years with 3-5 inch risers and forward controls. I think you have moer control when makeing quick moves.Ride all day with them just put fat drags on my new 10 WG with internal wireing ,what a bi#$h. My son is going to put them on his 10 Nitester soon.

I have to agree with fox. I only made a 400 mile trip and it was brutal. I think it honestly had a little more to do with the harsh ride (i only weigh 140lbs.), and I get thrown around a bit on some parts of I-85. I like the slight forward lean, as it seems that the wind can't PUSH you back. It kinda holds you up. I love the look, and will just suck it up on the trips.

I have drag bars with a 4" pullback, but angled down a little bit with the stock risers. I rode from SF to Seattle and back and wasn't too uncomfortable at all. When I get tired or sore, I just pull over, do some jumping jacks and i'm back on my way. Besides when you fill up from gas every hour or so its more than enough time to stretch out. Besides, sometimes its fashion or function...

My 1977 Harley XLCR Cafe Racer came stock with drag bars and no risers. Because you have to lean forward to reach the bars, and the fact that the foot controls are rear-set, the riding position is fairly aggressive but comfortable at freeway speeds. I have gone to Street Vibrations in Reno, Nevada from Redondo Beach, California quite a few times and that is about a 500 mile one way trip to get there and 500 miles is the longest one day ride that I have been on so far on that bike. Everyone has different levels of comfort. I have been riding that Cafe Racer for so long that I find that I feel more comfortable when I put my feet back behind me on the passenger foot pegs on my other Sportsters just to help me lean into the wind more. It almost feels natural now to be in that leaning forward position. But, to each their own! Good luck with your handle bar decision and ride safe out there!
