Default Screamin Eagle II slip-ons question

I just bought and installed these pipes (part# 802499-99A) on my 2000 XL1200C. Now i dont know if im being too picky... but the pipes arent lining up with the header pipes the way i expected them too. I pushed them all the way forward that i could. Do they look normal? Or can that gap be closed up a bit somehow?

Well I'm not sure, but I did check my old 2003 Parts & Accessories Catalog and that is the correct Screamin' Eagle 2 "For Offroad Use Only" muffler for your application.

(Assuming the PN is 80249-99A and not 802499-99A that you listed)..

The description in the Catalog reads;

"The ultimate in muffler performance, with a clean design that conceals the baffle and provides a deeper rumble. Baffle construction includes a stainless steel woven 'blanket' to insulate the outer case from excessive heat. Rear muffler features decorative 'Screamin ' Eagle II' Script. For Race Applications Only

Baloney Cut;

80249-99A Fits '98 and later XL models (except 883R); '92 and later Hugger; and '96 and later XL Custom Models.

My bike came with Screamin Eagle slip on's, and they do not fit like that. There is a small gap maybe 1/8" or alittle more. I didnt put them on and I dont know if they are the same part number.

I just installed a set on my bike,have about a 1/8th gap if that. The way it looks in your pic. something is not correct! Just looked closer on your pics. Did you loosen/remove your heatshield while installing? Just a thought that maybe your mufflers are not on all the way due to them hitting the clamp for the heat shield.

I hope you noticed that all the people that say they fit tight have the newer bikes.

I don't know, but this specific model (80249-99A) was being produced before the 'newer bikes' were even on the drawing board.

They are still shown being as available from the dealership in the 2003 Parts & Accessories Catalog that I have, but the original SE2 "For Offroad Use Only" models, but not long after they were dropped because of EPA restrictions. After that they started selling the newer 'Street Legal' versions of the Screamin' Eagle mufflers.

The "Race Application" Screamin' Eagle II mufflers available for the Sportsters were as follows;

80249-99A ~ Baloney Cut
80290-99A ~ Slash Down
80322-99A ~ Black Coated Baloney Cut
80325-99A ~ Black Coated Slash Down

Fitment for the above was shown to be;

"Fit '98 and later XL models (except 883R); '92 and later Hugger; and '96 and later XL Custom Models."

In 2003 they also had the first generation of 'Street Legal' Screamin' Eagle mufflers for the Sportsters (which didn't have the SEII Script). They were as follows;

80102-97 ~ Chrome Baloney Cut
80363-99 ~ Chrome Slash Down
80306-99 ~ Black Baloney Cut
80310-99 ~ Black Slash Down

The fitment of the above were shown to be;

"Fit '98 and later XL model (except 883R); '92 and later 883 Hugger, '96 and later XL 1200C and all '92 and later XL models equipped with Pofile Low Rear Suspension P/N 54571-94".
