Screamin Eagle II slip-ons question

Hi, I have those on my 08 1200C, they looked like yours when I put them on, and I didn't like that, the same as you don't. I loosened EVERY thing up, including the pipes at the head, and with the help of a rubber hammer and a block of wood they now look great. When you get them where you want them tighten everything back up. Ride safe.

I don't know, but this specific model (80249-99A) was being produced before the 'newer bikes' were even on the drawing board.
They are still shown being as available from the dealership in the 2003 Parts & Accessories Catalog that I have, but the original SE2 "For Offroad Use Only" models, but not long after they were dropped because of EPA restrictions. After that they started selling the newer 'Street Legal' versions of the Screamin' Eagle mufflers.
The "Race Application" Screamin' Eagle II mufflers available for the Sportsters were as follows;
80249-99A ~ Baloney Cut
80290-99A ~ Slash Down
80322-99A ~ Black Coated Baloney Cut
80325-99A ~ Black Coated Slash Down
Fitment for the above was shown to be;
"Fit '98 and later XL models (except 883R); '92 and later Hugger; and '96 and later XL Custom Models."
In 2003 they also had the first generation of 'Street Legal' Screamin' Eagle mufflers for the Sportsters (which didn't have the SEII Script). They were as follows;
80102-97 ~ Chrome Baloney Cut
80363-99 ~ Chrome Slash Down
80306-99 ~ Black Baloney Cut
80310-99 ~ Black Slash Down
The fitment of the above were shown to be;
"Fit '98 and later XL model (except 883R); '92 and later 883 Hugger, '96 and later XL 1200C and all '92 and later XL models equipped with Pofile Low Rear Suspension P/N 54571-94".

Fit Issues for SE II Pipes
I have hunted thru the Forums & I hope I'm putting this question in the right spot.
For X-Mas I purchased a set of SE II "For OffRoad Use Only" Pipes for his 2008 Sportster 1200 XL.
P/N 80290-99A ~ Slash Down Rear & 80325-99A ~ Slash Down Front Both in the Black Coated.
I thought 'Slip-On' would mean just that....Now, it seems that it isn't that easy. Looks like they won't mount correctly...and I may find myself in the ummm dog-house!
What exactly will he need to put these on his bike? I'm not able to get any help from the local H-D cuz of the "For OffRoad Use Only" issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated to keep my azz off his P/O List!
Thanx

Different SE II mufflers were produced for the '04 and up models. Their part #s have an "04" extension, not "99". They are no longer available through Harley. As you can see, the older units may not (won't) fit an '04 and up.
This set is chrome:

The Harley dealer isn't helping because they don't know crap past last year, not because of the "off road use".

If they are older than what fits 04+ then they would be alot different.
