Usually fill up at 150 miles and have never had to use the reserve. I've been getting between 47 and 51 MPG. I don't really ride that hard though, it might be different if I did!
Trip odometer and the petcock are your friend. You will quickly learn how far you can go before you need to reach between your legs, and flip your petcock.
I have an '07 1200C. The low fuel light starts to blink at about 100 miles, one steady about 115. I've only pushed as far as 120 since it's fuel injected with no petcock and no reserve.
Same here...why is it that the FI bikes get like 20-40 less miles per tank? Could never figure that out, it seems like the FI would make it more efficient.
I get about 125 before my fuel light comes on and I do mostly city. I always fill up when the light pops on and it's always 2.8 gallons. Oh I have an 08 1200 C.
Tom, I think is cuz our bikes have the big fuel pump in the tank that takes up space. I also think that they made the fuel light pessimistic since we don't have reserve.
