thinking about putting RSD 12" apes on my nightster and was wondering if it is easy "do-it-yourself" or its better off takin it in? Besides the longer wires what else should i get?

 

Do a search of apes for sportys in the search bar/ subforum. There's a ton of info there. RSD bars are way exp . Check out road 6 customs (R6C), he's on ebay and has a website too. You can call them, ask for Seth. He states he can get whatever kind of cables you want cheap too.I just bought a set of his 14" Z bars for 300 less than msrp RSD bars. They look sick on a nightster. My local shop just put a set of R6C bars on a Nighttrain. The shop mechanic who did the job said they were great bars. Your probably talkin at least a G for someone else doing them. Good luck.

 

Some people say it is easy some people say installing apes with longer cables is the hardest thing they have ever done on their bike. All I know is that if you go to a dealer to have it done it will cost around $1000 after parts and labor, the majority of that being labor.

 

It's not an easy job.
I have done a a bunch of handlebar changes and I hate it every time because it's such a pain in the ***.

 

If I had to do it all over again...I would pay to get it done. It's a pain in the ***.
