Never seen it in person, but I've heard tell. It sounds like a good option. I'm okay with the power I've got for now, but I can foresee the day when I'll want more. (Who knew I had such a lust for speed?) If and when I do the upgrade, I might try to break it in on a dyno as per mototune's suggestions. Damnably hard to follow any specific break-in guidelines when you live in NYC. Anyway, if anyone's used a dyno to break in the engine the way mototune says to, let me know the results. I'll be very interested.

Glad you got some good riding in, themac. It's mid-30s and clear here in NY. That counts as good riding weather in these parts this time of year. I'd take my baby out today myself, but I spotted oil seeping from the inspection cover yesterday. Not enough that it actually drips. Just sort of accumulates on the cover. They probably just put a tad too much oil in the primary when I did the 1K service on Saturday. Still, I want to take it back to the dealer before I ride it very much. 'Cuz, like, you know what happened last time.

I doubt that too much oil in the tranny is the reason for the oil leak at the inspection cover. More likely it's not tight. If it had THAT much excessive oil, your clutch would be slipping like crazy.

the most improtant miles are the first 50....then ride the hell out of it....thats my theory, and many many miles later no issues....

Unfortunately, I live in an area where I don't have hundreds of miles of calm, twisty back roads - only interstates and congested non-interstate roads, as well as neighborhood streets. I have been trying my hardest to follow the dealers rules and not exceed 60 for the first 500 miles, but I have run into a few situations where I had to punch it and get the hell out of dodge.

On the flipside, I don't really have a lot of places where I can truly work through the gears and vary my speed between 40 and 60 in 5 mph increments unless I want to get run off the road. I have been doing the best I can and can't say that I have had any problems so far though. Regarding my oil, the dealer said not to worry about it until 1,000 miles, so I am taking them at their word.

I have owned several scoots in my time, this just happens to be the first one I bought new.

+1 I road the hell out of after 200 miles.

I think you'll be fine. That's what I did on the original engine. As I stated above, when I took that engine apart after 65,000 miles, it looked GREAT inside. I did change the oil in my new converted engine after 100 miles.

Good point. Will probably still lay off the bike until I ride it back to the dealer to get it fixed.

Yeah ... I got mine with like 520 miles on it and I pretty much just cruise anyway ... except on my way to and from work ... or when I go to the store ... or when I go to eat ... **** I pretty much just run the hell out of it
