Default New-to-me 2006 XL 883 check list

Hello,

This is my first "real" post. I just found a great deal on a 2006 XL 883 that I could not resist. It is my first Harley and I am super excited to enjoy it and make it mine. I plan to take it to a stealer soon to have it inspected and looked over as well as a complete fluid change. What are some things I should personally look at before I take it in? It has 7,6xx miles on it by the way. It is bone stock other than the baffles drilled out in the muffs. The only thing I have noticed so far is that after it has started and run for a few minutes with the enrichener all they way out then pushed in to normal, it hesitates slightly under light throttle application? What would cause this other than the 30 degree temps outside? TIA

-A little background of me...I started riding 2.5 years ago on a little Suzuki 650cc cruiser and just found my perfect first Harley. I'm very mechanically inclined and know the ins and outs of many aspects of motorcycles. Re-jetting a carb would probably be a 2 for me on a difficulty scale of 1-10. Thanks in advance and I plan to be here with you all posting for a while!

-Matt

The carbed bikes are very cold blooded, I start mine with the enricher all the way out and then push it in half way and ride for a mile or so and then push it all the way in.

Biggest recommendation is by a service manual for you year bike and change the fluids your self.

The manual is a best buy for it and it will pay for itself over and over.

That sputter at 30 degrees is normal. When temps are in that range, I usually ride for about a mile with the choke all the way out. Then for about a half mile with the choke half way in.
