Lick's 2G shocks
#2
Well I have heard that they are a little better, but they are always going to ride very hard. This is because they are 10 inches long and put the tire and fender very close to one another, and therefore the shock is not able to travel as far as a longer set. The shock travel is what softens the ride. If you want a soft/better ride go with a longer shock like a 12 or 13 inch

Did any of you know you can have your stock shocks shorten by Skullman? Just go to Google and put in Skullman. I've had this done a couple of times and it works very well and it's quite inexpensive. The last set I had done I also had him add an extra set of bumpers inside to limit the travel as I was riding real close to the fender.

I'll look into that. I was trying to find out how to remove the springs from the stock rear shock so I could remove a coil or two, but could not find any info on that.

There is a special spring compressor for removing the springs, I did sucessfully change a set once but it was one of those moments that you know if you slip you're going to knock your teeth out.

Hey Jag1886, Thats interesting. I might give that option a try. I've been riding on Licks shocks since I bought my 2007. The chrome finish is deteriorating. My OEM shocks are just laying around not doing anything...
I'd like to see some pictures of the completed mod. Good Info !

Well I found a shock compresser on Craigs list in the next town over for $20.00 and if he still has it then I will go get it. If I can get the spring compressed then I can cut a coil or two off the spring without removing it from the shock. I have cut many automotive springs so I know what to do-just have to get the spring compressed. I just want to drop the rear of my bike like 1" since I have 12" shocks now.
