Does anyone know for sure if a 2003 XL1200 engine will bolt up to a 2006 frame. I know the 2003 is hard mounted and the 2006 has rubber isolation mounts, but will the 2003 engine bolt up to the 2006 mounts? Thanks in advance.

i'm still looking into going the other way 04up on a 03 down frame, noone nowhere has any definitive answers and all folks say is check badweatherbikers or xlforum but i scoured them both n got nothing.
i'm going the other way you are cuz theres a whack of 04 up motors going cheap and all the 03 down motors i'm finding require complete tear down n rebuild.

LOL, too late i'm salvaging what i can from my blown out buell cyclone M2 1200 engine and went bought a used 1990s 883 that i'm rebuilding.
thats a good idea though! my bike started out a 883 then a 1200 conversion then a engine swap to a buell M2 1200 now back to a 883 LOL it'll have salvaged buell heads though and whatever else i can save, the transmission looks great but pawls worn.
if this guy gets help that'll be cool, hopefully he don't have to chop it up to fit it.

 

I actually don't have the 2003 engine to 2006 frame problem...just doing a little research beforehand. Found a good deal on 2003 and wanted to upgrade 2006. Guess I will look at 2004-2006's only.
