Default how can I remove the rear censor that is down in the rocker cover hole?

I am talking about the rear rocker cover, closest to the seat. Can this censor be removed without taking the entire rocker cover and top off? Where can I get a censor socket so the wire goes through the socket? I buggered up my censor wire when I put my new rocker gasket on. Smashed it a little while I was not paying attention when tightening the rocker bolts. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Gracias.

I think that tool is for the sensor in the exhaust pipe.

He's talking about the wire going down behind the rocker cover on top of the rear head. I am not sure what it is.

Just wondering... I have an issue with what I think is the ECM not sensing the engine temp properly and that causes high idle on startup even if the engine is already hot. Is the sensor that the OP is refering to what feeds the engine temp to the ECM?

thanks guys.

Does anyone know if this socket and extensions can be put down the middle of the rocker box cover and then remove the censor or does both rocker box covers need to be removed before?

According to the service manual you can remove the sensor without taking off the rocker cover. The socket fits into an extension and you drop it into the opening in the rocker cover to reach the sensor....

sweet. no i need to get a harley mechanic to let me borrow his socket for a day. thanks.
I was able to unplug the censor wire and pull the wire down through the hole between the push rods. I smashed about 2 inches of the wire in a few spots almost to bare wire. I was able to fit a piece of insulation off another wire onto one of the smashed sections and wrap it with electric tape temporarily and then plug it back in. the bike is no longer throwing a code. But I would like to cut those bad sections out and connect it back together and shrink wrap it with some stuff other than electrical tape. again thanks.
