i know that the newer models vibrate less, but if i really want to see whats behind me i reach over and grab the arm of the mirror to steady it a bit.
even our dampened engines still shake enough to make the mirrors hard to see any kinda details.
just part of the ride imo-
and hey, why do i care what i left behind anyway?!!

Not sure if my leg is getting pulled here or not, but my mirrors are rock solid regardless of my speed.

Where you get them?

That's why I like the XR1200. Smooth as silk when you get moving.

Got this same issue of vibrating mirrors on my '05 and that was the second year of the rubber mounted engine. Although the bike vibrates ALOT less and rides very smooth, the mirrors still jiggle jangle, which is soooo annoying. Makes 'em useless. On my Deluxe, nothing vibrates ever....and you can actually use the mirrors.

Hey luvmy03spt, I bought both of my paired set of VIBRANATORS from a company called RICOR. They also make a valve that you buy as a paired set that you insert one valve inside of each of the two front fork tubes to help make them function much better, sort of like an anti-dive type of device. This paired valve set from RICOR, are called INTIMIDATERS and I bought two paired sets of those valves, one pair for each of my two XL883 Sportsters. They also just started making rear shocks for Harleys too! I put in an order for a pair of those shocks and I can't wait for them to arrive. I will post up my riding experience once I get a few miles on one of the Sportsters with a paired set of the RICOR INTIMIDATERS in the front forks and a paired set of RICOR shock absorbers on the rear of the bike. I have a 1999 XL883 Sportster and a 2007 XL883 Sportster. I should be able to do a ride comparison between the two bikes. I am thinking that I will do the 1999 XL883 first as I have just over 50,000 miles on that bike alone so a fresh set of suspension upgrades should be like getting another new motorcycle to ride.
Here is the WEB Address for the VIBRANATORS: www.vibranator.com
Here is the WEB Address for the IAS rear shocks and the INTIMIDATORS: www.ricorshocks.com
I hope that this information will be useful to you. Good luck and ride safe out there!

You could take the mirrors off and replace the bike?
