Question Trading my Yaris for an Iron!! Woohoo

Hi guys, got sick of driving a car, gf has one, my car has been paid in cash, now going to trade it in for a 883 Iron.

We went to the dealer today, it looks GREAT, perfect bike, I want it.

Questions though. I live in South Africa, we basically pay alot more for everything, the 883 Iron stock out of the box will cost me exactly $13,750 (USD), which is R105000 (Rand) over here.

The Yaris I can get R125000 for, which leaves a smooth R20k to spend on stuff for the bike and myself.

Ive worked out the Helmet, gloves and Jacket will be R10k, this leaves me with another 10k to use on the bike.

What do you guys think I should add to the bike? You know like a crucial accessory or change, I can only afford to do one, the forward controls will cost R7k, exaust about the same, so I have one choice.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Regards.

Check ebay for aftermarket parts. Much cheaper than the dealer.

I have both a yaris 09 5 door and a sportster 2008 883c..

Get some riding boots..
When I got my bike I got a sissy bar installed and put a bag on back of it. I also got an engine guard installed to protect the bike if I dropped it. I also got saddle bags from ebay. I don't keep them on my bike. They are inside but throw them on when I need them...

And I just broke down and got heated glove liners. They are great depends on your weather. I realize it is summer in SA right now so probably not an issue but in a few months it might be?

I think you should ride it as-is for a couple weeks, then decide what accessories you want/need based on your own experience.

Mine is black 5 door hatch. Smallest toyota main competition is honda fit. Great gas mileage and I can park it anywhere.
Not for you truck boys.. It did shut up my dealer when he was trying to convince me I should get a 1200. I said yah well I drive a yaris so I think an 883 will be fine.

I have a white 2009 3 door Yaris automatic right now, got it because it was the lowest priced lease I could order from work. Thought I was going to hate it. But I just ordered another Yaris for this year a 2010 meteorite metallic 5 door, 5 speed. The Yaris is fast, fun to drive and gets 42 MPG and I can park it anywhere. My softail has a bigger motor than my car. BTW I'd get pipes or mini apes for the IRON. Remember real men drive small cages.

Ohh that would be funny:icon_ver zsilly:.. The weird thing is it is rommie inside because they took it from storage space but it is a hatch so I can fold down the seat if needed. It is so small it has some pick up. Gas mileage can not be beat unless you go hybrid or MC(my sportster gets way better milage).

And I can sleep in it. I have a habit of taking off for the hell of it.. I call these my no agenda vacations. When I go I throw a tent pad and sleeping bag in the car. Often I get a camp ground and just sleep in the yaris aka car camping. Now I would not be able to sleep in the car with someone else but I can myself (I can fit my 8 year old back there but that is about it).
I have also done this at rest stops. However, some people in my life are convinced this is going to get me killed but I am not much for fear.
