Default Breather again

I have read everything here about stage 1 breathers and heavy breathers. Just when I think I have made up my mind to do the upgrade, I get thinking about heavy rain causing problems especially for the heavy breathers. Since I like to drive long distances on my Sporty, should I stay with something that will fit inside the ham can ? I don't want it to die duriing a heavy downpour. Right now, in stock condition, it runs well in the rain. Should I take the chance ? Helpful suggestions, please.

What he said^^^^^^. The only issue I've had was the oil coming off the filter and having to clean the bike a bit after the rain.

+1 I agree! No problems in the down pours just a little cleaning after the fact.

I haven't had any problems with a forward facing Kuryakyn Corsair, also keep the rain sock on all the time.

I have ran the Forcewinder and am now running theHD Heavy breather and I have never had any issues with rain. Rode in rain so hard you could barely see the cage in front of you and no spitting, coaughing, no nothing. I do always keep the rain sock on though.

The rain sock on mine does a great job, I wouldn't let this change your decision

your breather is gonna be fine...
another thing you can do (i did) if you want to keep stuff outa the breather- like oil- is to put on a "breather blow-by". i used to get oil in the breather, but no longer.

more info in this thread:

mine is very simple and just runs across the lower part of the engine under the breather to under the bike.
you can see it if you click this pic to open it large (open this and then click on the pic to make it large so you can see my breather tube):

not to hijack but....i shouldn't be alarmed at the oil blowin through my ness II guys? ive heard if you let the bike warm up a bit before you get on and start hammerin you may not get as much, although i know it has a lot to do with oil level.

Guys, (Bmx & Wana), the oil I was talking about above was the K&N filtering oil that you spray onto the filter, and not oil from oil-blow-by/puking. The rain washes the oil off the filter & it mists back all over the bike and my leg since I don't have a rain sock.
