Big Twins are Boring, Sportster's Rule
Wondering if there is anyone else out there that sold a big twin and ended up with a rubber mounted Sportster. I have had both an FXD and a FLHT Electraglide Standard and I have had no regrets whatsoever. My 1200 Custom rubber mount is a much more satisfying and fun ride than either of the big twins I owned. Faster, lighter, more nimble and that great EVO sound. I was concerned about missing the big twin experience at first but now feel the 1200 Sportster is just about perfect for an all-around bike, plus it costs thousands less. I got to the point where my big twins just felt too cumbersome for my style of riding. For anyone getting the itch or getting peer pressure to "move up" take it from someone who's been there, it ain't always the right move.

Werd. The Sporty's perfect for me, it's a do-it-all kinda bike. But nothing's as fast as a V-rod (in HD), and nothing's going to tour like a Glider. If you're only going to have one bike, and you're not too big, then the Sporty's the best choice... and a bargain considering it's versatility and capabilities.

[sm=funnypostabove.gif] Man, that was harsh.
I still have the sporty that I started riding in about 81. I just gave it to my son. I have the Streetglide now and love it. I am slightly heavier than I was as a kid. The poor sporty was letting out a sigh of relief whenever I got off of it, so I needed something bigger.
