lindby bar 2005 sporty
has any one put a linby bar on there 2005 1200 custom? i have found one but they list 2 different ones. One for the 04-05 with rubber mounted engine and one for i think it was up to the 03 with factory forward controls. My biggest concern is the forward controls. The place said i need the onen/ for upto 03. Has the frame changed much from 03 to 05. I just don't want to pay all that money for something that won't fit.

SinceCrazy is there any chance you can show a pciture of the bracket on the front were the lindby bars maount (not the motor mount part but the foot control area) I am having difficulty figuring out which way the brackets go and there very poor instructions do not help. A picture would do a world of good.

RE: lindby bar 2005 sporty
Well I am finally back from 2 weeks at sea, thanks to the Navy. Well I got the Lindby bar now, but didn't like the built in pegs. It put my feet up high and straight forward. So I bought a set up clamp on highway pegs. I rode it to the Rumble to the Summit this weekend and it was real comfortable and I got a lot of compliments for it. Now I need to build out the back some with some saddle bags and a sissy bar. I've attached a current picture of the bike and of the mount as you wanted Hobo.

they make a set for the 03 and earlier with mids and one for fowards. i have the ones meant for mids. another guy from another forum has the one for fowards. the ones for mids seem to be lower in the built in foot peg area. and i have the same problem that sportylr has with my legs being straight out when i am on them.
oh and if anyones wondering if they serve any purpose along with the looks. they do. i found that out on my ride up to laconia this past weekend. friend was infront of me exiting the highway to get gas. was a long sharp turning to the right exit ramp. we got to the end to a yield sign and there was a traffic light about 200' to the left of us on the road we were trying to get on. my friend looks to the left and so do i. while looking i heard his engine rev up so i figure he's going for it even though the light just turned green the second we got to the yield sign. So i start to accelorate as i am turning my head back foward to see him stopped infront of me. i slam on the brakes and try to turn but i think i tensed up and i skimmed his rear fender leaving a slight dent in the side of it, bent his turn signal at the bracket it was mounted to and hit his saddlebag. My linby bar bent backwards putting a dent in my straight shots and as soon as i hit him my bike just kinda bounced to the side (almost like someone came from my side and shoved me over) and the bike went down. i jumped off not even trying to catch it figuring i would get hurt trying. then i just stared at the bike in disbelief. i picked it up and rolled to the side of the road and saw the damage.my friend and i bent the linby back to as close as we could get it to being the way it was. the linby bar is still straight. it bent at the top and bottom mounts, especially the top mount that one is kinda weak. other than the dent in my front header pipe and heat shield and a few scratches on the side of the linby the bike fell on nothing else on my bike even got scratched. now i gotta buy a new header and heat shield and bend my linby back a little more until i can buy a new one. sorry to kinda hijack the thread a little bit but i figured i would let you know that the do work.
