Default A 140 tire on a 2001???

Will a 140 tire fit on a stock 2001 883? I have a friend of mine that says it will. I looked tonight and to me it looks like it may rub in a few places.
Has anyone tried this, and if so, did you have to use any different spacers or move/remove anything?

This forum has been great. Thank you all for the help with all the questions I have asked.

Depends on the brand. I have a metzeler 140 with no modification at all just enough clearance......they're known to run a bit on the narrow side of the measurements. But if you went with dunlop 140, it probably would rub. Main areas of rubbing will be in the swing arm, and also clearance of the belt.

I guess I should have added that I also have lowered shocks to put on. I think they are 11 in. Progressive(?)

It'll be approximately 13/64" wider on each side of the tire. Just measure & see. I'd say it's pretty damn close now with the lowered shocks since that puts the section width of the tire right near the fender mounting hardware. You can use different hardware or flip the bolts for more room.

i know that a Dunlop 150 will rub on the belt and on the strut cover hardware...but just barely,so a 140 should fit...but ya may havta cut the excess off the strut cover bolts since yours is lowered

I t should fit but your speedo will give you false speed and mileage informations.
But putting a 140/90/16, you'll increase your rear diameter...

I'm not sure about a 2001, but a 250 tire fits nicely on a 2007.
