Default New 2007 Sportster Impact

Well as you all know Harley has announced the changes for the 2007 line up. All fuel injected ... very nice, and also the price seems to be about the same at 2006 models.

I visited Nashua (NH) Harley today and asked the salesman what kind of price break he thinks will happen to the 2006 left over Sportsters? I told them they posted the prices of the 2007's and he played dumb saying he didn't know they posted it. He also said that information may hurt the dealers but COULD be good for customers wanting the 2006 models. I like Fuel injection but if i can save some cash I'll be happy to get a new 2006.

Again the prices for 2007's are almost the exact same as the 2006's. $100 more for the 883 and $320 more for the 1200. (I'm refering to the Custom models) The salesman said he expected the 2007 models in two weeks. I'm wondering how low they'll go to blow out the 2006 models. Let's face it, condsidering the upgrades they claim to have made to the Sporters and the very little price difference between 2006 and 2007 models they HAVE to be willing to come down on price for the remaining 2006 models or they'll be stuck with them.

Personally i'm excited about the chance to save money on a 2006. I wonder how low they'll be willing to go? Any guesses?

I don't know, but there'll also be some people who're willing to pay full price (or more) to get a 2006 since it'll be their last chance to get a carbed model.

Harley will not have a problem selling the 06's that are left over. Last year that they have carbs.. I would much rather Have my 04 1200 custom with its carb than a 07 restricted, fuel injected, sporty.

My local dealer had 500 off of MSRP and 250 in store credit on the 06 Sportsters... MUCH more on the big twins. Kind of sucks, since I got my bike about a month ago, but I knew there was a risk of a better deal, if I held off, although they didn't have a sporty that I would have wanted.

When I bought my '05 Sportster last July, I was able to get $1000 off of msrp plus another $500 store credit. Harley also had special financing on all leftover '05's. If you press them hard enough, you should be able to deal but I also believe it's specific to your area and the number of sales your dealer makes...Good luck.

I'm hoping to be able to make a deal on a leftover 06. The dealer only has one 06 Sporty left, an orange 883R that's been there for several months. Maybe I'll have a chance.

I would give it a shot if I were you. If you know for sure that's the bike you want, and you plan on keeping it for awhile, you got nothing to loose. Beware though of the tactics sales people will use to make it seem like you're getting a good deal when they can actually give you the same deal on an '07. Don't let them give you the bull crap that it's the last one, blah blah blah. Go in with a number in your head and don't reveal it and let them present you with a price, from there, you should negotiate down to your price. If they don't take it, shop around a little if you can. Dealers are called dealers because they will deal. You just have to figure out what it takes to get them to deal. No dealer wants old bikes sitting around....
