I did a similar thing (scotch bright) on an older bike to revive the chromed parts... but then I used rubbing compound and a cheap polishing machine to remove the scratches.. then polishing compound to polish the chrome real good.. very good results... and it removed the scratches caused by the scotch bright...

I wanna do it tomorrow but there are like 1000 scotch brite products? Which pad do I use?

We even use Scotch Brite to clean the copper pipe and fittings prior to soft-soldering them when we put heating systems together. Works better than sandpaper, and doesn't wear out as quick either.

everything eventually rusts... this will make it rust faster, yes

Yes, it will rust. There are things you can do to slow it, but it will rust.
