I would think that for alternate winter clothing, you would be better off looking at snowmobile gear. Wind chill at 60+ mph is the killer, and snowmobile gear is typically better designed for that.

I strongly recommend heated gear, it is amazing.

I tried snowmobile bibs & my leg melted to the pipe in 5 minutes. I've been layering. Cabella's sells a level 3 Underarmour and some nice windshear fleece. Then jeans, hooded sweatshirt & riding jacket & I'm good & surprisingly more flexible than I thought. I also wear regular socks beneath Underarmour socks, leather boots, Underarmour gloves under my leather gloves and a full faced helmet.

Takes me forever to disrobe though. I'd like to try that heated gear.

My wife wears snowmobile gloves in cold weather with liners.
Also, on days where the temps were just barely above freezing we have used insulated Carharrts with excellent results and no melting.

We have not found good insulated riding boots yet tho...We do ok for a while with thinsualte, but by the end of the day, cold toes...

I use REI snowboard pants, light and warm as hell.Wind doesn't get through. After all these years of cold feet a guy at work told me about his set up.Insulated boots,2 pair of cotton socks with a plastic bread loaf bag over them.Laughed at him till I tried it.No more cold feet.G.

I could see the jacket and gloves working good but the pants are sort thin... at least mine are. Still stay warm boarding though

I have work my skiing pants on cold days with excellent results too, wind and waterproof for the most part, got a little wet on an extended trip (hours of riding in steady rain) but overall very pleased. My pants have built in gaitor things too so i put them over the top of my boots and it keeps wind form coming up my legs.

the ones I bought have 2 layers of lining that each zip and and a vecro seal. They just don't ride up on my boots.I ride usually 5-6 hours down to the high 30's and that's enough for me.Never been cold and usually have to open a flap unless the wind really howls.
