I got a 08 883 and i love it! I have no problems taking it on a long trip. the most i rode in one day was about 600 miles and did it in about 9 hours with just stoping for fuel. I have nice seat on her so after a long trip i don't feel a thing. this next season ill have a set of streetglide shocks on and a new sprocket for lower RPMs

Congrats on the bike!!!! I just started a month ago on an 07' Nightster. I never had any experience before, not even a dirtbike. Everyone told me it was a bad first bike, and didn't listen. It was a good thing I didn't because I LOVE my bike and would have hated anything else. Even the 1200 isn't heavy and still haven't even come close to dropping it. Good luck....too bad you don't live in Arizona, I'm still riding everyday

I am jealous on the riding everyday. Sweet bike the nightster. I like those a lot. I do like my red and chrome for me . But think the nightster looks pretty bad ***.
But theory is to not listen to nay sayers for most things.
I tend not to pay much mind when people tell me something can't be done. But I would say with something totally new I would have been more impacted if I had been on this site more.
To be honest on the winter thing. We only have a fake one around here. I will be able to ride plenty. It will get cold/ snow for a day and then be in the 40's for a week. In fact most of the houses near me (mine included) don't have a garage. I will tell you everyone has a garage if you have a real winter. But I am still very jealous that you can ride every day.
