Talking Oil Change

Hey... I jus picked up a sportster and was wondering how much oil it needs. I saw 3 quarts but wanted some verification/second opinion.

What year? If you got it new or at least got the owners manual it will tell you. My '09 wil take about 2.8 after it's been drained for an oil change with about 4oz in the filter when you put that back on. Most people dont fill them ALL the way to avoid blow out.

Approx. 3 quarts in the motor and 1 quart in the primary/tranny.

Be careful out there bud!

Also, I have to second what tumbleweed said about underfilling to avoid blow-buy. If I put in the full three I have a messy breather after a short ride. Could just be my bike, but if you go all 3 and have oil all over the right side, drain a bit and see if that fixes it.
