Rider To Rider Communication on the Cheap

Rider To Rider Communication on the Cheap
I am looking for some GOOD info about rider to rider intercoms that won't break the bank. I have a pair of Cobra walkies and they work great on foot for about 5 miles. They came with an earpiece and mic, but they don't do **** for cancelling the wind noise. I tried doing a search but came up with nothing good. I would like to find a headset that I can use with my existing Cobra's, but I am willing to go a different route if need be. While not everyone's version of inexpensive is the same, I would like to keep it under 100 bones for each bike. I don't need any frills like gps, bluetooth, radio, kitchen sink, etc. just the ability to talk to my riding buddy.
Hand signals just don't cut it all the time.
Thanks,
Evan

Being serious, there are a number of headset options out there for FRS & GMRS radio sets. First, you want a set that has a noise canceling microphone. Next, and probably more important is the type of helmet you wear. If you aren't wearing one or using a 1/2 bucket, your results are likely going to be poor. At a minimum you want a 3/4, and preferably (to really stop the wind noise) a full face.

Yeah cHarley I wear a halfie. I tried a Fulmer V2 but felt a little disconnected from everything, (if that makes sense). So I switched back to the half, but do have the "touring" QD windshield from HD and it blocks a lot of wind from my chest. I don't know what it does as far as noise cancelling on the mic though. The cheapies that came with the Cobras didn't do much. My riding buddy wears a full face and I could barely make out what he was saying and he said he just heard static from my end. I did come across a promising set up from www.bikeintercom.com but I think they are a two pin set up where as the Cobras are single pin. I e-mailed them on Sunday but have yet to hear back from them. They do have a "riders package" that come with some Motorolas, but my further research of that particular model of Motorola reveals some poor reviews and they are apparently discontinued which concerns me as far as future parts availability. Not to mention the fact that I would have two sets of GMRS radios.

I've used a Chatterbox GMRS system. great range and not had any problems with interference. Wind noise is not a problem when speaking but the squelch doesn't work all that well so usually I use a push-to-talk remote on the handlebars. Its a little outside your price range.
One to take a look at is the Scala Rider Q2. Not great on range but many more possibilities to connect to other devices.

I looked at the Scala but to be honest, I am not sure how the bluetooth works. I would assume you aren't on a call the entire time, but a lot of the sets out there have to be paired to your phone to work. I just don't get it.
I also am not opposed to wired systems either if it means saving some money.
