After painting a/c cover with bbq paint do you guys put a clear coat on ?

I rattle caned my "ham can" twice this year with the bbq paint, i actually just striped the paint off again a few weeks ago because it started flaking from bugs that hit it during the riding season. I'm looking at powder coating this next time because the bugs will keep knocking the paint off:P

powder coat...
Not sure if you can powder coat the ham can as the powder coat needs baked on and the ham can will melt. This is what I was told by a local customizer, talked to him about painting heat shields, slip ons and breather. He said he could powder coat the exhaust but only flat black the breather....

Huum. If it is made of steel , it can be powder coated with no problems. I do about 300 air cleaner covers every year, so I'm not real sure what your guy is talking about.

The AC cover...plastic with chrome coating...wouldn't mind looking at just doing the backing plate on mine - but what if you get caught in the rain?
