07 XL1200c Handlebar Conversion Question
Hey guys,
Got a question. With the factory pullback riser used on '07XL1200c the speedo is part of the riser... I want to change my bars to mini apes and about a 3" straight riser. What have you done with your speedo. I dont want to move it from its current position accept my new riser wont have a fastening points? Did that make any since? I have seen posts of pics with mini apes but have never seen any details in reference this issue.

Check out this bike that's for sale:

You can see pull back risers (not the factory Sportster Custom riser) with a factory style handlebar. If you're going with apes, straight risers look best in my opinion. But it's your bike. I'd go with stubby 1"-1 1/2" risers with the apes. Also, pull back risers will throw off the angle of the speedo bracket (the bend in the risers plus the angle of the speedo bracket make the speedo near vertical). You would want a speedo bracket with no bend in it to go with pull back risers. Some guys are relocating their speedos below and to the left of the gas tank.
Here's a pic of a Nightster with short risers and mini apes (forward controls, too). In my humble opinion, the apes should be taller and/or tilted farther forward. However, these do look nice:
Look around. There's a ****-ton of pics around. Have you heard of internal wiring? Do a search. Ask around. Have fun. It'll fall into place. Another consideration is the length of your cables and brake line. Braided stainless looks really nice and gives the benefit of better brake feel.

I think the C riser/speedo mount is the best looking one you can get on a sporty. Why not just run the ape's with the stock riser? I mean it's not going to hurt anything, save you money and still have that sweet speedo udner the bar look.
Streetfighter is right. The indicator light strip is shorter on the C then the other bikes.
