Default Sound like an issue with my carb..

Is there anyone else that has an issue with starting there bike without using the enricher.. I have to use it every time.. doesn't matter if its 30 or 130 outside.. I have to use it.. and If I dont.. it wont start..

my normal procedure.. get on the bike try to crank it without the enricher at least once.. usually twice.. if that doesn't work.. put the ****.. and it usually fires right up.. let it run for a min or 2 while I get my $h(# together.. and get going.. I have to ride about a mile or 2 before I push it in.. or it starts getting very temperamental and it doesn't matter how fast im going..

anyone else have an issue like this..

I thought it was just the nature of the beast.. until I ran across something on the web about not using your enricher unless its 50 or below.. and started getting me a little worried..

thanks guys
J

its not the air temp, its weather the motor is hot or cold,do you need the enrichener if the motor is warmed up?

Sometimes.. usually no.. but with that being said.. If its 103 outside and the bike sitting in my drive way longer than say 6-8 hours.. then I have to use it.

(Maybe a shorter time frame.. Ive never timed it.)

I was just worried that I may have an issue because I have to use it that much for that long of a period of time.. I may just be paranoid but I would rather be safe then sorry.

The enrichner is typically needed if the motor is not at least close to normal operating temperature. If the bike has been sitting, and it's 103* outside, then the cylinders will be at about 103*.

103* is not anywhere close to normal operating temperature, so yes, some enrichener use should be required and is normal.

I agree with cHarley..... Don't worry about it....

You could mess around with the pilot jet/adjustment (which controls the fuel mixture from idle to about 1/8 throttle), but it probably wouldn't help all that much. Plus, on the stock CV carbs the pilot jet adjustment is on the bottom of the carb, so it's a pain in the neck to even get to it...

If the engine is still fairly warm you could try leaving the enrichener (choke) off, open and close the throttle a couple of times (only about 1/4 throttle opening), and then see if it woiuld fire up. But it doesn't hurt to open the choke a little bit to fire up the bike as long as you don't leave the choke on too long....

No worries, Thats why the enrichener is there. Have to use mine during every cold start. My carb has had a rejet and tune and still the enrichener is needed at times. Other than that the bike runs like a bear.

See that's what I'm worried about.. is that I have to have the choke on for about a mile.. or so after it warms up all the way.. its almost like it idles too low for a while.. I've just gotten to the point now where with the choke out I can tell by how loud it it get when I can put it in.. if I put it in before that it kinda coughs and feels like its going to die.. regardless of how much gas I give it.
