Relocated the speedo on my 2003 XLC (and some other stuff)
...and MAN there is alot of crap packed in the riser covers.
I like the relocated speedo on my Nightster quite a bit so I decided to do it to "Plain Jane" (my winter project bike).
I did it in the exact same manner as I did my Nightster only the speedo bucket on my XLC is chrome (The N's is flat black) and I powdercoated the mount bracket mirror black (The N's is satin black).
I didn't need to do anything to the wiring on the N but the C needed the speed sensor wires shortened & the rest of the wires lengthened.
Here's where I added a couple feet to the wiring.
I got some old school wire loom from Speedway Motors to cover the new wiring. It looks just like my exhaust wrap.
In this pic you can see where I mounted the odometer reset button as well as the mount bracket I made. It's mounted to the front gas tank through bolt and to the coil cover. I like the look of the relocated coil & tank lift but it's not what I'm going for with this one.
And here's how it looks now.
I also relocated the front turn signals (gotta have em here in Indiana).
Powdercoated the a/c cover mirror black.
And changed out the grips. I went with a stock looking (plain jane) grip. Here's a pic of the flashy chrome grips I took off.
And that's it for now. I'll be tinkering around with it the rest of the winter. My fenders & tank are about to go to the painter so the waiting game will begin on those.
Thanks.

The gas cap is just a cheapy pop up from Ebay. It was 35 or 40 bucks. It looks really cool. I think you'll need a non-vented cap but either way they're still on Ebay.
