Sportster question
#41
20 years ago a 750 was considered a large bike.
I'm 6'3" and 240 in gear. 34" inseam. My Sportster fits me great. One of the previous owners put highway pegs on it and that makes a bit of a difference because I can stretch out when necessary.
I probably look like mammal on the ball when I'm on my vintage Vespa though.

If you've been riding for 3 years, then you know what you want.
Sportsters are fun. I'm 6'1" 195 lbs. and fit just fine on it. It's mostly my town bike but I have taken it on week-long road trips. It was great.
Remember: a 1200cc is a large-displacement engine. Just ask your insurance company. Once you enter HarleyWorld, it's easy to forget that, since HD only makes large-displacement bikes.
As for the top-heavy comments......it's not. Look where the mass is on the bike: everything where it's supposed to be, nothing mounted too high in the frame or anything. What some call 'top-heavy," other would call "flickable." The Sportster is the best handling HD, by far.
But, some like a Harley just for cruisin' around or long road trips. The Super Glide (or any Dyna) would indeed be better. It is smoother riding, and has the best power-to-weight ratio of all air-cooled Harleys. The Sporty is a better handling bike, but the SG is not far behind. And after riding 8 hours in a day, your body will thank you for the SG.
But, whatever you choose, be careful of buying at a car dealer: that price is way too high.

there's just under 25,000 miles on my Sportster. I went and took a Road King for the no-hassle test ride. 30 miles later I brought it back to the dealer and realized that was a very sweet motorcycle. It just doesn't fit my riding style and function... I love where I am able to put my bike when traffic gets weird.
I'm not ready to trade the fun for comfort for the touring I do 3 or 4 weeks a year. 400 miles a day isn't any sort of problem. I'm 6'1" and 200 lbs.
Buy what what will put a smile on your face and keep you riding.
