Default nightster exhaust question

i'm new to harleys, and own a new (2009) nightster that i'm having the dealer install a heavy breather kit on my bike next week... and the service dude recommended upgrading the exhaust also. i've been trying to study the issue on this forum and other ones and not bother anyone being redundant, but i still don't know if i really need to get a more high performance exhaust, or will the stock one be ok for now. the cost for a new exhaust looks harsh for the ole bank account, but if it's really worth it, i might do it anyway. i wouldn't mind something louder and cool looking... so what is a good system to get that is of decent quality and performance over stock, and is not killer expensive. the dealer said they have some vance and hines on sale, but i'm not sure what types that would be.

A 1 1/2" hole saw at Home Depot costs less than $5. The hole saw will cut the weld in the back of the Nightster's muffler allowing the baffle to slide right out. You will now have a free flowing exhaust with a definate bark. Less than $5.

If you get the v&h exhaust then you will need to get a fuel managment system cause your bike is fuel injected and it will run too lean .So your talkin more money for that + money for the exhaust.

You can just keep the stock exhaust on save your money and get the fuel management and the Vance and hines short shots. i think those look good on the nightster.

thanks for the advice. i like the V&H sideshots and the short shots..

i found them on amazon for a good price, but they say they are for up to 2008 models. i think they would go for a 2009 as well, but i'll contact the seller to make sure.

I have to say that if I were to do it all over again, I'd go with V/H slip-ons with quiet baffles. That's what I put on my wife's bike and I love the way it sounds. Plus no re-map or tuner req'd.
