+1 - and ask for the maintenance records. Someone that doesn't have/keep detailed records, probably wasn't very diligent about doing the required services.
Oh and this is just one opinion but look for a 1200 not an 883. Tested both myself, there's just no comparison. I knew I'd be wantin' the 1200 after a month on the 883.
exemexer is right on. Bought my 883 and loved it but ended up with a 1200 after one month due to a friend selling it. Now the 883 sits under a bike cover and a for sale add on line. Test rode larger bikes such as the Dyna, Softail, ect but nothing comes close to the 1200 for me. Just my opinion.
