The 1200C is a great bike, especially at the price point that it's offered at. Can't go wrong with it. Easy to modify to make it whatever you want; Touring, Custom Cruiser, Chopper....good luck!

Seeing as how I'm sure the OP has made his decision by now I figure he won't mind if I ask a slightly off topic question regarding the 1200C. What is the size of the tank? I guess the standard "peanut" tank is 2.2 gal, just curious if the tank on the custom is bigger or just shaped different? A buddy of mine is in the market and I'm just trying to help him out since this will be his first bike ever.

I do believe they made the jump to a bigger tank in 07. My 08 has the 4.5 gallon.

We still have our '98 1200C Sportster - rode, 2 up, over 175,000 miles on that wonderful bike from end of '99 until '07...

Our gas tank held 3.2 gallons... I thought the 'peanut' tank was on a 883 Sportster...

Sometimes we 'coasted' into a gas station and/or carried a couple gallons of gas in our saddle bags (had to as no gas stations in area of Nevada we were riding at the time)...

Bike was/is beautiful - check out our photos/albums - our home page has picture of the Sporty in front of Cowboy Harley Davidson in Beaumont, Texas (I-10) in 2004... Our lifeonaharley site: http://triglide.multiply.com

Enjoy your ride...
