Neither one of them is going to be worth anything in the long run.......motorcycles are the worst investment you can make. Ride them into the ground and have fun. If you want to invest in motorcyles, buy Harley stock...it will give you a good return for the next 20 years.

I know, the XL50. Why are you always trying to sell it if it is going to be worth so much in the next few years?
I know mine is going to be worthless...7,000 miles in the last few months. In Texas you can ride almost year round.

I totally agree with wbogley on this one. Motorcycles, cars, and the like depreciate in value, period. I know there are some rare ones out there that never touched the pavement and those are few and far between. The bottom line is it's going to take 20 yrs for a 50th Annv or 100th Anniv to show any real appreciation and thats as long as its in mint condition. They are more of a conversation piece rather than an investment. The return on investment from HD stock, mutual funds, real estate, etc will be much greater in the long run than on a Harley Davidson. In my opinion, I say ride them, have fun on them, modify them and enjoy them.

The reason I'm looking to sell it , is that the bike doesn't fit my long term plans. I'd rather part with it while it had
low mileage instead of when it has 50,000 miles and depreciates more.
Who friggin' cares if I wanna sell it ? its my life, right ?
You can ride almost year round up here in Vancouver too.

It's only an opinion but I don't think either one will enjoy any special appreciation. I do agree that the rubber mount, carburator bike will hold up more because there is a large group of riders out there that want nothing to do with fuelies.

I think the '04 - '06 1200C's will hold their value as much as any Sportster.
A lot of guys like the style of the "C" models, with the large 4.5 gallon tank, forward controls, and of course the rubber mounted carb'd engine...
Of course the 2005 1200C will be the most valuable since that was the year they went with the larger 1" diameter rear axle. LoL...
