Default Guarantee buy back BS and more...

Don't know if everyone is aware, but if you purchased your bike during April, like I did, you don't get the buy back guarantee. HD had a window I where it wasn't offered, and this creates confusion, even at the dealers. I was there looking for something good for all day 2up riding, I tell'em I've got a sportster and I got it this spring. And he tells me I may qualify for the buy back thing. I tell him, I don't think so, but he is insistent that I am, or could be. So I go home, email him the VIN and nope. Then he tells me it ended March 31st. I think they started it back up in May or June, but April is out.
I was looking at the heritage softail classic. The salesmen were pushing touring models.

OK.. a little confused. Are you pissed that they tried to get you the buy back that you knew you didn't qualify for? or the fact they tried getting you into a different bike than what you were interested in? Sounded like from what you were saying, i would try to put you in a tour bike first as well. At least until you told me you are only interested in a Heritage. Not trying to be an a$$, just having a little trouble figuring out exactly what the problem is.

By the way... The buffeting on SG's aren't much worse than the buffeting that you would get on a heritage. It's all due to the wind screen attached to the forks instead of to the frame. The Road Glide is the best all day 2up, long riding bike you can get. Price wise the 09 SG is 1k less than the heritage. But , in 2010 they raised the price of SG's by 2k and lowered the price of the Heritage by 1k. Money goes to the more popular. Also, the Heritage has the counter-balanced motor which has hardley any vibration at a stop where the SG will shake good. But at speed the SG is a fun, great riding motorcycle.

Best of luck making the decision. Can't go wrong in either bike you choose. Oh yea... you may not want to take your girlfriend with you if you don't want them talking to her like she is your wife. Sounds like an honest mistake to me. Especially when she is the reason you are there. All day 2up riding. They can only assume that she is the "2up".

Before you buy a new bike, you need to take a bunch out for test rides with and without the GF.Ride the Heritage,SG,RG,RK,all of them.Sitting on them won't tell you enough. And all of them feel different from each other.

Me and my long time GF/wife stopped by the dealer 2 weeks ago.I LOVE the denim black Road Glide. That would be my next bike. While sitting on it and chatting with the sales guy,she says why don't you trade your sportster in?I told her if she wants a more comfy ride, she can help chip in on the payments! The sporty is not going anywhere.Suck it up babe or stay home!

Sounds familiar. I told my wife my next bike would be a StreetGlide. She asked me what i could get for a trade in on the sporty. I laughed. The 1200 is not going anywhere..... .....ever!

If they won't give you/don't qualify for the buyback deal, you could always ask them to offer you in trade what you'd get from the deal or keep looking for a dealer that will.....
