I've had a couple sets of Dunlops, Metz 880's & just threw on Avon Venoms this past spring.....For grip, either the Metz or Avon's will do just fine.
Thanks WVHogRider, you are right about Florida not having many twisties, but!... Florida has really crazy weather, and if you ride near the coast like I do, many times when you ride on the highway and transition from areas populated by buildings and such to an open area, you get hit by strong crosswinds... an overpass bridges are even worse... believe me, I had to slow down to a crawl or completely stop sometimes because the crosswinds were so strong that my rear tire started to slide sideways.. and that is why I wanted your valuable input about the tires with the most grip available for my Iron, I don't really care much about mileage/tire life.. I don't really ride that much in a year... maybe 6000 miles or so... so.. are Avon Venoms very grippy? more than Metz??? any other very grippy tire you would recommend??? thanks much!.. I really appreciate your input.. and sorry again for hijacking the thread.. :-)

No offense but you could go round and round all day on the subject of tires.. "No pun intended" Everyone is going to have that perfect tire that they like..
Its going to be like putting on shoes.. everyone is going to feel differently in them..
I live in SE Texas and it gets pretty windy here to especially on I10.. I've had the wind blow me in another lane.. but I've been really happy with the Avons they seem to have antiquate grip to me..

im with WV.. +1 for the Avon Venom's..

Ok I called up my shop. He said its about $45 to mount/balance for each tire. I could bring my own tires down there but he said its cheaper to just go through them. He said it would be about $100 +- $10 for each tire + 1 hr labor/per tire. Unless I can remove/install the tires onto the bike myself...

so in total around $430 for 2 new tires on the bike

OK, and what tires is he going to supply? For $300.00, you removing the wheels, you should be able to get your pick of the best tires out there and that's certainly not Dunflop 401's. My indy is $25.00 for a mount and balance if I carry in.

I'm pretty sure it would be the dunlops. Me removing the tire/wheel from the bike would save me $200 in labor.

I called up about 10 places today and figured out what I'm going to do.

I found a shop that will charge $120+tax for the labor to install two new tires on the bike and I ordered dunlop tires from motorcycle superstore for $179.98, free shipping, for a total of ~$310 when its all said and done.

I wasn't planning on searching the yellowbooks for shops but a guy at worked recommended it. Good thing because I was going to spend $400-$430 if I didn't do the search today.
