Default Tank lift on an 07 Sportster Custom?

Anyone used a tank lift kit with a 883C? I bought one of Jackals and it looks like I'd need to relocate the #$^#^ coil? Not sure the tank will even clear the speedo no I look at it...

Not sure about the coil, but your right about the speedo. Theres not much room to work with. BTW, have you ever seen a 4.5 gal tank with a lift? I wouldnt think it would look too good. However if you do it and it works with the speedo, (or you end up relocating it) please post some pics, I'd love to see it.

I always thought the larger tank was most in need of more angle - it looks so damn flat... Since I specially said I wanted it for a 07 883c I'm going to be really freakin' bummed if it doesn't fit

Out of curiosity I just went out and measured the space between the tank and the bottom corner of the speedo (I'm riding an '09 custom). There is only about 1 and 1/8th inch of space. I cant imagine that there would be much difference between an '07 and an '09, but I might be wrong. I dont see how lifting the tank in that little of a space is even going to be noticeable. You dont want the speedo to look like it's setting on the tank, nor do you want it to rub the tank when you turn your bars so the most it could be lifted is 3/4ths an inch. IMO not worth the trouble. I still think you need to look into relocating the speedo if you want to do this.

I just tried it and I reckon there's about 2 mm of metal that stops me from lifting the tank past the speedo. I'd be tempted to try taking off the tank and seeing how it sits after its cleared those 2mms, but it looks like the coil bracket would still be in the way of the actual tank lift bracket so I'd have to move that too and, depending on the angle of the tank when its seated, the ignition might be in the way....
This looks like a total pain in the ****.

Yep. But if your willing to put the time into it, you could end up with a very unique look.
