Default Flipping Mirrors on a 1200C

I have read a few threads of people that have flipped their mirrors on an Iron/Nightster. I tried this on my 08 1200c and the left side hits the tank. This is due to the fact that my 4.5 gallon tank is wider and the left mirror mounts in a slightly different position than the right. Has anyone been successful in flipping the mirrors on a custom model? At this point I figure I need to find different mirrors or just run with one mirror on the right side. Any thoughts?

What if you put the mirror arm in a vise and change the bend enough so it doesn't hit?

FYI I flipped the mirrors on my 2007 XL1200C today. I needed to relocated the turn signals to do it. The mirrors clear the tank by an inch or so. Stock handlebars. See pictures

MIrror is close, but does not touch tank.

Use the Kuryakan Mirror Extenders and you gain a lot more clearance.

Thanks for the tip. I'll ride with it a bit and see if that's necessary. If it doesn't hit, it doesn't hit, just want to be sure I can still see well etc. I added those little round blind spot mirrors to see around my own shoulders when they were stock mounted.

The Kuryakan mirror extenders push the mirrors out about 1.25 inches and also lowers them on the Custom. They eliminate the blind spots most Sportsters have.

+1 just that. Very good solution to the problem. If you see your shoulders in the mirrors, mirrors need to go farther out to the side, and that's exactly what the Kuryakyn stem extenders achieve. Not a friend of flipped mirrors as I would have to look down and way away from the road in front of me.
