i also decides at 48 to learn how to ride,tried of waiting to go for a ride with my old man.he got me a brand new 1200 low.i thought he was crazy,you do not buy a brand new bike for someone who has never ridden before.he said i would think twicw before i dropped it.hahaha.yes it happened and i was so sure it was the end of the world,but it wasn't.got back on her and rode her home.(the hardest thing i ever did) the look on his face was more of fear and grief than anything. he told me if anything ever happened to me he would never forgive himself.it has been two years and the bike is truely mine,and i wouldn't trade that for anything.let her get what she wants and support her no matter what.

 

Get her a Deluxe much shorter seat hieght and rides better. My wife is 5'6" and I have to lower both ends of her Sportster and build a custom seat to make it fit proper. With a Deluxe most things will fit from the git-go.
