Default My tail light keeps vibrating loose???

My tail light keeps vibrating loose. Its a stock light with the stock push style locking pins. Besides replacing the tail light what if any are there ideas about keeping this tight. Once it starts getting loose my ground connection gets bad and my lights go out while driving. Any ideas on how to solve this? 88 sportster 1200.

Yup, I snapped those POS plastic studs off and drilled 2 holes where they were and mounted the taillight with a couple bolts and nuts with loctite on them. I did that years ago. Haven't had a problem since. I actually forgotten about it till I read your post. lol

+1 I agree with xFreebirdx 100%. It has been so long since I replaced the crappy plastic studs by drilling through them and using bolts and nuts that I never even think about it at all. It just seems like the best way to go to fix it. It is cheap and easy to do. Give it a try and you will see how easy it is to do and you will have made a custom "mod" to your bike that only you will know about. Good luck with the fix and ride safe out there!

Yeah I picked up some bolts form the hardware store today. Gonna do the fix when I get home. So that will be my first mod. I want to over the winter fix the slight oil leak I have and also change out the rear fender and custom lights. Oh and gonna try my hand at painting. Right now my bike is in flat back primer.

I suggest stainless steel hardware, it will cost you a little bit more but its worth it in the long run.

Ok heres some pics. I snapped off the cheap potmetal bolts and then ground them down, drilled them out, then I used 1/4 -20 bolts/nuts and washers to remount it.
