I just bought a 1200C a little over a week ago without even test driving it.

I am 6'1 and 250 and I need to stretch my legs ON the forward controls quite a bit.

Also will you just be riding solo? Cause Mrs.C. goes with me most of the time and theres 400 pounds tween the both of us and we bottom out......allot.

Lots of power tho, I can smoke a friends 883 turned 1200 and he is only prob 155 lbs.

And give a friend with a heavely modified Dyna lowrider a run for his money.

And this with BOTH of us on our 1200C. I was impressed. I just need to have the dealership adjust the suspension (if they can)

Did you get the spanner wrench from the dealer to adjust the suspension yourself? From the dealer, they had the suspension all the way down on the bike, so I got the spanner from the dealership and kicked it up a notch. It has seemed to help a bit. It's pretty simple to do yourself.

I actually come from Italy, and i live in a city that is completely different from the tipical big cities of the u.s. It's a small city with narrow streets, traffic lights every 150 meters, people crossing the streets without stopping.....that's why i think that a 883 roadster should be perfect for a city like that...
so it's ok if i use it in a city like my city.
But if i wanted to go for a long ride...in this case forward controls could make the difference...isn't it?
and what about the passenger...if i ain't wrong, carrying a passenger on a 883 roadster means "hard life" for the passenger...right?
But i'm a real beginner about Harley....so i'll have to try both and "listen to my legs".....

If you are taking a passenger go with the 1200R it will be a better choice bigger engine on the same size bike frame. Go to your local HD dealer over there and sit on all the sportster see what one fits you the best. And good luck on the sportster hunting

 

I bought the 1200 Custom and I'm 6'0". I couldn't sit on the 883C with the mid pegs. Even with the forward controls on the 1200C (which made a big difference), I still didn't like sitting with my legs all spread out on the ground when stopped. I switched the 11.75 inch shocks to the 13.5 shocks off a Roadster and that made all the difference in the world. The ride is better, the handling seems better (maybe it's in my mind?), and while I can still stand up off the seat, I feel like I now have my feet more firmly planted on the ground at stops. I love my Custom, but the fit, the feel and the manners of the Roadster are probably better. If you plan to carry a passenger, get the Sundowner seat--the stock seat is a cruel thing to put your passenger on. The gearing in the 883 is probably a little better in down-town traffic, but it'll haul down the highway just fine.

 

Taking the safety course is highly recommended. You should have no trouble riding a 1200C. I'm 5'11", 175# and the 1200C fits me like a glove. I also love the look and ride of the 1200 Custom (Vivid Black & Chrome).
