Default Need a new seat...

Hey,

After breaking in my stock Iron seat, I realize it sucks something fierce on anything over 30 minute rides for me.
So, I need some of your thoughts...I still want a solo seat, and one that fits the lowrider look of the stock, but one with much better feel and support. I need better cushion (gel?)!

Please make your pick and maybe answer why...hopefully some of you have had similar experiences.

Cheers,
Chris

I would also consider having your stock seat modded by Mean City Cycles. I really like the work that did on the seat and it gets more comfortable the more I sit on it.

Thanks guys! I forgot to add the Mustang vintage solo...maybe someone could chime in on those. It seems people like those too.

Anybody know if LaPera can put the gel in a solo seat?

Be careful about how you do this, and consider a pro before you trash it.
My experience was not so great. I removed some foam, put in a gel pack, and neglected to add enough foam on top...now, in the sun, my butt gets blistered! I bought a Sundowner seat that is very comfortable but does not look so great on a Sporty in my opinion.
If you have a pro do it, be prepared to spend some big bucks, but that seat can be make comfortable. If you plan on any trips, be sure to ask them to widen the back of the seat as much as the base frame will allow.
Don't know about the Mustang seat.

AND, as riders we need better options. I don't have any workable solutions, but some kind of test "horse" where one could try a seat with handlebars would solve so many problems!

I can only hope that someone smarter than I can invent something that would be available "regionally" where we could travel a reasonable distance and get this service.

Been looking for a new seat myself but all I've gotten so far is a headache. A replacement seat will change the position of the driver somewhat, as best as I can tell from research. The sundowner will rise you up a bit and forward. Going forward is fine ( I have short arms) but not sure I want to go "up" anymore??

The Mustang seats seems to lift you up a bit but pushes the rider back (not good).

I dunno, this info could be wrong but seems to be the consensus from the riders that own them.
