Hey all;
Got another dumb question. I'm thinking of taking my belt guard off. I think the bike would look better with out it. has anyone else done this? If I do should I anticipate any problems? like belt dammage, or any thing I can't think of?
Thanks
Lou
Possible belt damage or pulley damage from debris! Possible passenger foot or pant leg material getting caught in the belt. It is called a belt GUARD for a reason after all. I see a lot of people running with an open belt primary, why not an exposed dive belt? I have seen a few without the belt guard on. It’s your bike, it’s your decision.
I removed both my upper and lower belt guards and have had no issues. I only ride solo so I don't have to worry about the passengers leg. There is a better probability that rocks or debris could get in there but I am willing to sacrifice the look for the function. I believe the belts on the 04 and up are made with carbon fiber and pretty hard to break.

I'd leave it on.
I've thought about taking mine off just for the hell of it cuz it'd make the bike more 'stripped down' (possibly the front pulley cover too), but i'll trade a coupla style points for some extra safety in this case. Especially since i usually wear boot-cut jeans.
I took all them off and the pulley cover too recently. I havent had any problems, but you never know.
Unless you ride with a bunch of tassiles and leather crap hanging off you i dont see how it can be a problem.

Do you have a close up pic of the pully cover area? I was thinking of taking mine off too.
