anyone use the KN high perf filter?
Hey everyone,
I'm looking at possibly changing the air cleaner out on my 06 1200R. I saw that K&N had a direct replacement filter, pn 402-035 I saw it on JP cycles. Has anyone used one of these? Are they good or bad? Is there something else that performed as good or better for a comparable price?
Thanks

The first thing I did with my AC was the dropin K&N. I noticed absolutely no difference. In order to fit the stock AC, the filter element is too small to get any improvement.
I recommend you just save your bucks for an aftermarket AC and you will see a big improvement. Soon after I tried to K&N/stock setup, I went to the NRHS Hurricaneflow-HUGE improvement. Cheers!

I was kinda wondering about that and its why I asked. Just the kind of input and help I was hoping for. Now to find an aftermarket that I like.

K&N Does flow better than stock. If you had one you could to the low air pressure test. Use you compressor to blow air through each filter (stock + k&N) at 25 psi & note the difference. I would recommend, on the performance side, to open up the exhaust along with the filter, AND mod the airbox for more air flow. K & N, a 1" hole in the stock exhaust diffusers, and a modded airbox, seemed to add 20% to my wife's 883 (via the seat of the pants dyno). She had ZERO problems keeping up with a group on a 100 mile ride recently (after mods). *F/I models may (probably) need re-mapping after these mods.
